Somali Foreign Minister meets Ethiopian Deputy PM in Addis Ababa

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E Absher Omar Jama, met with the Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on the sidelines of the 42nd session of the Executive Council of the African Union. The two sides discussed strengthening and deepening bilateral relations between the two countries and joint cooperation in the areas of security, development, and economy. The Foreign Minister praised the Ethiopian role in the recent summit of neighboring countries and Somalia held in Mogadishu, pointing to the need for the two countries to cooperate in combating terrorism.

Somali National Army conducts operations in southern Mudug region

 The Somali National Army with the help of the Galmudug forces and the local forces continue to conduct operations in the southern Mudug region to eradicate the Al-Shabaab terrorists. The army has caused enormous damage to the terrorist militants in the past few days as they killed, took off arms and vehicles and destroyed the Al-Shabaab militia hideouts in Mudug region. The Somali National Army yesterday killed 32 Al-Shabaab militants and injured others after conducting a planned operation against terrorists’ hideout at Qaycad area in Mudug region.

Minister of Finance visits AfDB headquarters in Kenya

The Minister of Finance of the Government of Somalia, Dr. Elmi Mohamed Nur visited the headquarters of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Nairobi, where he had a productive meeting with the heads of the Bank in East Africa, including Somalia. The discussion between the two sides was focused on the country’s financial reform program in which the Bank has played a major role and the continuous support it provides to Somalia. AfDB is an important partner in increasing the country’s income as it has built the most important centers in Mogadishu to collect the country’s taxes.

Minister of Youth opens a meeting between FGS & FMS

  The Minister if Youth and Sports of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Mohamed Barre Mohamud along with the Deputy Minister, H.E Fahmo Ahmed Nur opened a two-day meeting between the Ministry of Youth of the Federal Government Somalia (FGS) and Ministers of Youth of the Federal Member States (FMS) of Somalia in Mogadishu. The Minister said in a tweet ”I had the pleasure of opening a two-day consultation meeting with the deputy minister of the Ministry, H.E Fahmo Ahmed Nur, and the Ministers of Youth and Sports of the Federal Member States.”

First Lady and First Deputy Speaker visit kitchen for Somali soldiers

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Madam Sara Omar Hassan and the First Deputy Speaker of the Lower-House of the Somali Parliament, Mrs. Sadia Yasin Samatar visited kitchen established by the Somali women for making food for the Soldiers who are on the frontlines fighting the insurgents ti liberate their country. Madam Sahra said “the Somali women are ready to support the liberation of Al-Shabab terrorists from Somalia”. Mrs. Sadia said “we as Somali women are standing by our Somali men and Soldiers who put upon themselves to liberate Somalia and fight the insurgents”.

Minister of Foreign Affairs meets Ambassador of Sudan

  Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Abshir Omar Jama met with the Sudanese Ambassador to Somalia at the Ministry today. The Minister and the Ambassador discussed strengthening the traditional relationship between Somalia and Sudan and how to cooperate in education, economy and general security of the region.

Government officials attend the funeral of the late Banadir Regional Commissioner

  The President, PM, Speakers of the Parliament from the Lower and Upper Houses and many other officials from the Federal Government of Somalia have attended the Funeral of the late Banadir Regional Commissioner, Brigadier Gen. Farhan Mohamud Adan (Qarole) who died fighting at the frontlines of Basra area near Bal’ad against the Al-Shabab insurgents. President Hassan Sheikh gave a speech after the praying on the late Commissioner and sent his condolences to the families, friends and the whole Somali communities of the loss of the brave soldier. The President said that the war against the insurgents will not stop and that they will be chased from their strongholds.
